Bad transitions or bad organizations?

Like you, I've got more opinions on sports than I'd care to admit. Like you, I've sought every outlet for them since grade school; my parents, sister, teachers, friends, wife and a pair of golden retrievers have all listened to me blabber on about pinch hitters and zone defenses and the West Coast offense. And like you, for most of my life, I've lacked the one thing I craved to validate those opinions – access.

Well, now I'm in a position that allows me to speak to players and coaches, scouts and general managers, people who can teach me as much in some 15-minute conversations as I knew in 15 seasons of following a sport. But an opportunity is best shared with others; hence the birth of this blog.

The concept is simple. I'm here to help settle the argument you're having with a buddy at a bar, or with some blowhard in a chat room – stuff like "Can you win without a low-post scorer in the NBA?" or "Does it really matter if someone bats third or fourth in the lineup?" Along the way, I hope to dispel some of the myths we, as fans, accept as truth. So just e-mail me your question or argument. The sport doesn't matter, just the disagreement. If you're in the middle of debating it on some Internet message board, link it. And then I'll take the issue to the real experts, add some statistical analysis, and give you the definitive "answer." Then you can go back and argue about that. Because in the end, it's all just another opinion.
