Sorenstam, out two months, ready for return

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. -- She's back! And she'll return for her own event.

Annika Sorenstam, out since April 1 with a ruptured and herniated disc in her back, will return to the LPGA Tour at the Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika, set for May 31-June 3 at RiverTowne Country Club in nearby Charleston.

Her agent, Mark Steinberg, said in a statement: "Annika's rehabilitation has progressed well and she looks forward to resuming competitive play next week in the Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika."

Sorenstam has played in only three events in 2007. She's finished in the top 10 twice, but hasn't won an event. She has earned $158,371 -- 25th on the LPGA Tour money list.

While injured, Sorenstam told a Swedish television network she would cut down on her schedule to focus on the majors.

"I will play less, prepare more and really go for the big competitions," Sorenstam told SVT.

The Ginn Tribute has a $2.6 million purse, tied for third behind the U.S. Women's Open and Evian Masters on the LPGA Tour.
