Bergmeister, Long win at Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif. -- Jorg Bergmeister and Patrick Long won
the U.S. Sports Car Invitational on Sunday at Laguna Seca, giving
the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series a record five different
winners in five races.

Co-driving the No. 23 Alex Job Racing Porsche Crawford with
Long, Bergmeister claimed the lead from Jon Fogarty on lap 60 of
the 91-lap race, but the defending Grand-Am Daytona Prototype
champion was in danger of running out of fuel prior to the finish.

Bergmeister caught a huge break, however, when Matthew Alhadeff
slid off the course into the gravel trap with two laps to go,
bringing out the race's seventh and final full-course caution and
allowing Bergmeister to make it to the finish.

Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas finished second in the No. 01 Chip
Ganassi Racing Lexus Riley, which vaulted Pruett back into the
Daytona Prototype points lead after five of 14 races. Oswaldo Negri
Jr. and Mark Patterson finished third in the No. 60 Michael Shank
Racing Lexus Riley.

Max Angelelli and Jan Magnussen, who came into the race as the
Daytona Prototype points co-leaders, finished 15th and now trail
Pruett by five points, 148-143.
