Top hoops recruit commits to UCLA

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose, California, high school
basketball star Drew Gordon announced Monday that he will attend
UCLA starting in 2008.

Gordon, ranked among the top 15 high school juniors in the
country, chose the Bruins over California, Washington, Arizona,
North Carolina and Duke, according to a statement released by his
family.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Gordon averaged 13.6 points, 9.1 points,
3.6 blocks per game last season at Archbishop Mitty High School in
San Jose. He excels on the defensive end, which is a priority of
UCLA coach Ben Howland.
