LISBON, May 6 - Sporting moved back to the second
place of the Portuguese Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 home
win over bottom-of-the-table Vitoria Setubal on Sunday. With two matches left Porto, who beat Nacional Madeira 2-0
at home on Saturday, taking a step closer to another Portuguese
league title. The northern team are top with 65 points from 28 games,
three clear of Sporting. Benfica (61), who defeat Naval 2-1 at home on Saturday are
one point behind Sporting and battling for second place which
provides an automatic Champions League spot. Sporting were gifted to second-minute lead when Senegalese
defender Madior headed into his own goal after a freekick by
Chilean midfielder Rodrigo Telo. Brazilian striker Lieldson doubled the lead for Sporting
with a header inside box after a cross from the right by
Argentine midfielder Romagnoli after 27 minutes Lieldson, unmarked inside box, again heading in a cross from
the right from winger Yannick to put Sporting 3-0. He was the
League top scorer with 13 goals. Setubal's striker Amunek hit the consolation goal 12 minutes
from the end.
