Soccer-Burkina Faso sack coach Idrissa Traore

OUAGADOUGOU, April 20 - Burkina Faso sacked
national soccer coach Idrissa Traore on Friday, saying he had
lost the confidence of the West African country's football
federation.

Traore was reappointed last June on a contract which was to
have taken him through to the end of the qualifying campaign for
the 2008 African Nations Cup finals in Ghana.

"The federation assures the public that it will recruit a
new trainer as quickly as possible," the Burkinabe FA said in a
statement. It gave no further details.

Traore had previously been in charge of the team from 1993
to 1996 but was fired after a 5-1 defeat by Zambia in the first
round of the Nations Cup finals.
