Time's Mistress upsets Honeybee

HOT SPRINGS, Ark.-- Time's Mistress overtook pacesetter and favorite Devil House on the final turn and went on to a 4 3/4-length win in the $100,000 Honeybee Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Oaklawn Park on Friday. High Heels rallied for second, finishing 2 3/4 lengths in front of third-place finisher Grace Happens.

Devil House, who was seeking her sixth straight win, finished fifth in the Honeybee.

Time's Mistress ($26.80) settled in two lengths off Devil House early in the mile and a sixteenth race, as that one led the field through an opening quarter in 23.62 seconds. Time's Mistress continued to track that one in second through a half-mile in 47.91, overtook the leader on the final turn and drove home, to cover the distance in 1:45.49.

John Jacinto rode the winner for trainer D. Wayne Lukas, who also trains third-place finisher Grace Happens. Grace Happens was 32-1, and the 1-6-8 trifecta paid $1,171.

Time's Mistress had run third to Devil House in both the $50,000 Dixie Belle and the $50,000 Martha Washington this meet in her two starts prior to the Honeybee. The win was her third from eight career starts. Time's Mistress now has earnings of $127,050.

Time's Mistress is a daughter of Mr. Greely and she races for Charles Kidder.
