Werner takes Twelve Hours of Sebring pole

SEBRING, Fla. -- Switzerland's Marco Werner won the pole position Thursday for the American Le Mans Series' season-opening Twelve Hours of Sebring, turning a fast lap of 126.889 mph in the No. 2 Audi R10 diesel prototype.


Italy's Rinaldo Capello, the defending race winner, qualified the No. 1 Audi R10 second at 126.465 mph.


Italy's Emanuel Pirro and Monte Carlo's Frank Biela will share the pole-winning Audi R10 with Werner on Saturday. Allan McNish of Scotland and Tom Kristensen of Denmark will join Capello at the wheel of the No. 1 Audi.
