GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Alex Opacic scored 20 points to lead
Furman to a 69-56 win over Chattanooga on Wednesday night.
Opacic's 3-pointer gave the Paladins (7-6, 1-1 Southern
Conference) the lead for good at 45-43 with 9:36 left in the game.
Furman would score 16 points in a row to take a 58-43 lead, but
the Mocs (7-8, 0-3) scored the next six points to cut their deficit
to nine.
The Paladins then hit nine of 12 free throws in the final three
minutes to seal the win.
Opacic hit all eight of his shots from the field, including two
3-pointers, and made two of three free throws.
Jadee Jones had 10 points and Moussa Diagne added eight points
and eight rebounds for Furman.
Kevin Bridgewaters scored 14 points and Keddric Mays and
Nicchaeus Doaks each added 12 points for Chattanooga.
