DETROIT -- Henrik Zetterberg scored the go-ahead goal late
in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings held on for a 2-1
win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night after Steve Yzerman's
No. 19 jersey was retired.

Dominik Hasek made 21 saves for the Red Wings, who have won four
in a row to pull into a first-place tie with Nashville in the
Central Division.

After a ceremony that lasted nearly 1½ hours, Tomas Holmstrom
kept the sold-out crowd happy with a power-play goal 1 minute into
the second period. Ryan Getzlaf made it 1-all a couple of minutes
later while the Ducks had a two-man advantage.

Anaheim's Ilja Bryzgalov made 28 saves, filling in for
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who has not played since injuring his groin
last week. The Ducks have lost three straight.

Yzerman retired last summer after 22 seasons in Detroit and
stayed with the organization as a vice president. He led the Red
Wings to Stanley Cup championships in 1997, 1998 and 2002. He
finished with 1,755 regular-season points, a total that led all
active players last season and trails just five in NHL history.

His jersey became the sixth retired by the storied franchise and
was hoisted to the rafters alongside Gordie Howe's No. 9, Ted
Lindsay's No. 7, Terry Sawchuck's No. 1, Alex Delvecchio's No. 10
and Sid Abel's No. 12.<
^Penguins 3, Hurricanes 0=

PITTSBURGH -- Sidney Crosby scored twice and set up another
goal to become the first NHL player with 60 points this season, and
Pittsburgh relied on Marc-Andre Fleury's strong goaltending to beat
Carolina.

The Hurricanes outscored Pittsburgh 11-3 in winning the first
two games of the four-game season series, but got nothing past
Fleury in his second shutout of the season and fourth of his
career. He made 31 saves.

With the Penguins on a power play early in the third period,
Crosby made a no-look pass up ice to Mark Recchi, who fed the puck
to Ryan Whitney at the side of the net for his sixth goal. The puck
deflected off Whitney and past goalie Cam Ward without hitting
Whitney's stick.

Crosby has 19 goals and 61 points in 38 games. A season ago, he
didn't get the 60th point of his 102-point rookie season until Feb.

^Flyers 3, Islanders 2=

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Mike Knuble had a goal and an assist, and
suddenly surging Philadelphia held off the hard-charging New York
Islanders.

Robert Esche stopped 40 shots, but nearly lost a 3-0 lead when
Jason Blake and Mike Sillinger scored 33 seconds apart in the final
three minutes.

That was the most offense the Islanders had mustered in a week.
New York had been shut out twice in the previous three games and
had only one goal overall.

Blake snapped the Islanders' team-record scoreless streak of 186
minutes, 31 seconds late in a 3-1 loss at Buffalo on Monday and
then saved them from another shutout when he scored with 2:57 left.
Sillinger scored at 17:36 to make it 3-2, answering third-period
goals by Kyle Calder and Ryan Potulny that gave Philadelphia what
appeared to be a comfortable lead.

Seemingly out of nowhere, the Flyers have won a season-high
three straight -- all on the road -- right after a franchise-worst
10-game losing streak. Even with this spurt, Philadelphia still
owns an NHL-low 11 wins.

The Islanders have hit the skids, losing four straight for the
first time this season.<
^Rangers 3, Devils 2, SO=

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Marcel Hossa scored in the eighth
round of a shootout to give the New York Rangers a victory over New
Jersey.

Michael Nylander and Petr Prucha scored in regulation for the
Rangers, who ended a five-game road losing streak.

John Madden and Jamie Langenbrunner scored for the Devils, who
had won three in a row.

In the shootout, Nylander, Brendan Shanahan and Matt Cullen also
beat Devils goalie Martin Brodeur. Zach Parise, Patrik Elias and
Madden countered for New Jersey.

Hossa faked Brodeur to the ice before flipping a shot into the
net. Henrik Lundqvist sealed the win with a stick and pad save on
Travis Zajac.

The Rangers have won two straight following a seven-game losing
streak.<
^Canadiens 5, Lightning 2=

MONTREAL -- Tomas Plekanec scored his second goal of the
game 6:01 into the third period, sending Montreal to a win over
Tampa Bay.

Plekanec, who entered with three goals in 38 games, beat Johan
Holmqvist in the second for his first goal in 14 games to tie it at
1. The Czech forward connected again in the third for his second
career multigoal game, giving Montreal its second and final lead.
He hit the post later in the period.

Alex Kovalev, Michael Ryder and Christopher Higgins also scored
for the Canadiens, who recovered from losing two straight in
regulation for the first time this season.

Cristobal Huet made 21 saves in his fifth straight start for
Montreal.

Defensemen Doug Janik and Filip Kuba scored Tampa Bay's goals.
Janik scored his first regular-season goal in the opening period,
and Kuba tied it at 2 with his seventh of the season at 16:15 of
the third.<
^Blackhawks 4, Blues 1=

ST. LOUIS -- Nikolai Khabibulin made 38 saves and Chicago
erased a third-period deficit with a three-goal flurry, ending St.
Louis' eight-game point streak.

Manny Legace hadn't allowed a goal in 127 minutes, 13 seconds
and appeared headed for his second consecutive shutout before the
Blackhawks scored three times on six shots in a span of 3:23 to
erase a 1-0 deficit.

Goals by Martin Havlat, Petr Bondra and Jeff Hamilton erased the
Blues' 1-0 lead, and Martin Lapointe added an empty-net goal.

Keith Tkachuk scored for the third straight game for the Blues,
who had been 5-0-3 since their last loss on Dec. 13 at Colorado --
the franchise's longest unbeaten run in regulation since 2003.<
^Wild 5, Thrashers 1=

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Pierre-Marc Bouchard had two goals and
two assists, Mark Parrish scored twice and Minnesota extended its
dominance at home with a victory over Atlanta.

Brian Rolston also scored and Manny Fernandez made 14 saves for
Minnesota, which tied a season high with its eighth straight home
win. It was just the second time in that stretch the Wild won by
more than one goal.

Minnesota is an NHL-best 17-3-1 at home and hasn't lost at the
Xcel Energy Center since Dec. 1.

Jon Sim scored with 22.3 seconds left for Atlanta, which looked
sluggish in the final game of a four-game road trip.<
