BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles on Monday re-signed
infielder Chris Gomez to a one-year contract. Financial terms
were not disclosed.
Gomez, 35, batted .341 with two home runs and 17 RBIs in 55 games
with the Orioles last season. The veteran, who played
primarily at first base and second base in 2006, had a
career-high 18-game hitting streak last September.
A veteran of 14 seasons, Gomez is a career .260 hitter with 58
homers and 446 RBIs for Baltimore, Toronto, Minnesota, Tampa Bay,
San Diego and Detroit.
