IndyCar's 2007 preseason testing will be at Daytona

The IndyCar Series said Friday it will hold its 2007 preseason testing at Daytona International Speedway.

The test, which will be held Jan. 30 through Feb. 1, comes on the heels of a successful compatibility test at the track.

Sam Hornish Jr., Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Dan Wheldon and Vitor Meira all tested there in September, allowing IndyCar officials to see if Daytona was a compatible venue. Series officials studied the transitions onto the banking, tire wear and braking zones.

The test took place on the 2.73-mile tri-oval and road course, which included 10 turns.

"We are very excited to be able to host preseason testing for the IndyCar Series," Daytona president Robin Braig said. "Bringing another motorsports sanctioning body to Daytona further solidifies us as the 'World Center of Racing.'"
