New Mexico starters go wild against Florida Atlantic

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Julie Briody had 17 points and all five New
Mexico starters scored in double figures as the Lobos (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) opened
their season with a 74-44 win over Florida Atlantic on Friday.

It was the opening game of the three-day ASU Veteran's Day
Classic tournament. New Mexico will play No. 13 Arizona State on
Sunday. The host Sun Devils beat Nebraska 87-60 in Friday's other
game.

Katie Montgomery finished with 16 points for the Lobos, who used
a 15-3 run to take a 25-9 lead. They led 41-23 at halftime.

Florida Atlantic never got closer than 20 points in the second
half.

Dionne Marsh had 13 points and nine rebounds for New Mexico,
which had a 53-29 edge on the boards. Angela Hartill added 11
points and six rebounds while Brandi Kimble had 10 points and 10
boards.

Breana Cox scored 10 points and was the lone Florida Atlantic
player to reach double figures.
