WVU-Louisville top story line

This week's most intriguing story lines:

1. Big East Showdown: Thursday night is must viewing for college football fans when unbeatens West Virginia and Louisville meet. Last year's game was a classic. Like it or not, this one has national title ramifications. It features two of the country's most explosive offenses (WVU averages 41 ppg, U of L 39 ppg). Keep an eye on whether the Cards' surprising run defense (they lead the Big East, allowing 2.5 yards per rush and under 75 yards a game) can contain the most lethal ground attack in the country. The Mountaineers blow games open because of the big-play nature of Steve Slaton and Patrick White. As a team, WVU averages a whopping 6.8 yards per rush. More on this game Thursday morning.

2. Unbeaten Big East vs. the One-Loss Big Boys: Thanks to the buildup of the huge Thursday night clash, it has heightened speculation about whether a Big East team is worthy of a BCS title game appearance, especially at the expense of some one-loss SEC champ.
