Sonics exercise options on Cs Swift, Petro

SEATTLE - The Seattle SuperSonics decided to keep
some promising big men in the fold Friday, picking up their
2007-08 team options on 7-foot centers Robert Swift and Johan
Petro.

The SuperSonics exercised their fourth-year option on Swift and
their third-year option on Petro. According to the terms of the
rookie salary scale, Swift will earn slightly more than $2.6
million and the Frenchman Petro a little more than $1 million in
2007-08.

Swift averaged 6.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.l2 blocks in 47
games last season, while Petro averaged 5.2 points and 4.4
rebounds in 68 contests. Each shot better than 51 percent from
the floor.

"We're very excited about the futures of both these young men,"
Sonics general manager Rick Sund said. "Both Robert and Johan
have shown improvement each season they have been with the team
and they continue to use their individual talents to make their
teammates better."
