Kent St. 16, Miami (Ohio) 14

OXFORD, Ohio -- Julian Edelman passed for one touchdown and
ran for another and Kent State kept Miami of Ohio scoreless deep
into the third quarter and held on to break an 11-game losing
streak with a 16-14 victory Saturday.

Edelman was 14-of-22 for 244 yards, including a 16-yard scoring
pass to Najah Pruden.

The Golden Flashes (1-2, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) rolled to
a 16-0 lead before Brandon Murphy scored for Miami (0-3, 0-1) on a
3-yard run with 2:46 remaining in the third quarter.

Mike Kokal's 2-yard TD run with 1:04 remaining in the fourth
pulled Miami within two. But Kokal's attempt at a 2-point
conversion to tie was incomplete.

Kokal was 20-of-35 for 167 yards, but was sacked six times.

Nate Reed kicked a 30-yard field goal for the Golden Flashes.
