ENSTONE, England -- Nelson Piquet Jr. will test Renault's Formula One car next week for the first time.
The 21-year-old son of three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet was signed last week as one of Renault's two test drivers for next season. He'll test the R26 car at the Silverstone circuit in central England with Heikki Kovalainen, who replaces Fernando Alonso as a driver next season.
The Renault deal will be the first move into F1 for Piquet Jr. He'll be a test driver alongside former F1 driver Ricardo Zonta.
