Colts RB Mungro to miss season with knee injury

INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts running back James Mungro will miss
the entire season after tearing a knee ligament during Sunday's
preseason game against Seattle.

Mungro, a short-yardage specialist who has scored 13 touchdowns
in four seasons with the Colts, was placed on injured reserve
Wednesday with what coach Tony Dungy said was a torn anterior
cruciate ligament in his right knee.

"Don't know when they're going to do the surgery but at some
point that's just going to be necessary," Dungy said.

Mungro also played on special teams for the Colts, and Dungy
said he was uncertain how to replace him.

"He was our third back and was a very good runner, a guy that
could go in and play tailback and win games for us," Dungy said.
"He was a very good special teams player for us. So somebody's
going to have to step into that role."

The Colts also placed defensive end Jonathan Goddard on injured
reserve with a broken foot he suffered during the Seattle game and
released rookie quarterback Mike McGann.
