          The headline of the May 15, 2005, interview with T.J. Quinn of the New York Daily News teased readers with the words, "Bud Selig Unplugged." One of the questions asked in the four-hour interview was:

          Q. What is the measure of success for the game and for you? Is it attendance? Ratings? Whether the game is "the national pastime"?

          A: It's everything. It's interest, it's attendance, it's ratings, it's a viability sometimes that's subjective -- and there are a lot of objective criteria. What I say to the people today and what I say to the clubs … is the game has never been more popular.
