Cricket-Marsh named South Australia high performance director

SYDNEY, Aug 1 - Former Australia wicketkeeper
Rodney Marsh has been named South Australia's high performance
director, the state's cricket association (SACA) said on
Tuesday.

Marsh, 58, will oversee the performance of South
Australia's teams at all age levels for nine months a year. He
had been working as a consultant to the SACA since November.

"Rod is one of the finest cricket minds in the world -- if
not the best. We are thrilled that he has accepted our
invitation to lead high performance cricket in South
Australia," SACA chief executive Mike Deane told the
organisation's Web site.

"The SACA is keen to see success in the coming seasons, and
we believe Rod is the best person to lead our teams to that
success."

Marsh, who played 96 tests for Australia between 1970 and
1984, worked as director of the England and Wales Cricket
Board's national academy for four years before leaving the post
last September.

He previously headed up the Australian cricket academy in
Adelaide.
