MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- While the Pittsburgh Pirates are not a
team that typically causes trouble for All-Star pitchers,
Chris Capuano would beg to differ.

Capuano tries to solve one of his nemeses Wednesday as the
Milwaukee Brewers play the rubber game of their three-game set
with the Pirates.

In seven career starts against Pittsburgh, Capuano (10-5, 3.49
ERA) is only 2-4 with a 6.47 ERA. The Pirates reached the
lefthander for six runs and 11 hits in six innings on May 31 en
route to a 6-1 victory.

Capuano has not been particularly sharp over his last two starts
either, having gone 0-1 with a 6.99 ERA. He has given up five
home runs over that stretch after allowing a total of one homer
in his previous seven outings.

Pittsburgh will hand the ball to Paul Maholm (3-9, 5.02), who
has lost five of his last six decisions and has won just once
since May 16. The lefthander yielded four runs in six frames
last Thursday in a 4-1 defeat against Florida.

Maholm is 1-7 with a 6.10 ERA in 10 road starts this season. On
the bright side, he is 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA in two career
outings against the Brewers.

Milwaukee took Monday's series opener, 12-8, before dropping a
6-1 decision on Tuesday. Ben Sheets worked seven solid innings
in his first start in nearly three months, but Dave Bush allowed
five runs in the eighth inning.

Jeromy Burnitz homered twice and Freddy Sanchez's two-run single
snapped an eighth-inning tie as the Pirates snapped a four-game
losing streak.
