Canucks sign C Bulis to one-year contract

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The Vancouver Canucks
added their second center in less than a week, signing Jan Bulis
to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Last Thursday, the Canucks signed center Marc Chouinard to a
two-year deal worth $2.2 million.

Bulis, 28, recorded a career-high 20 goals and 20 assists in 73
games with the Montreal Canadiens last season. But he had just
one goal and one assist in the Canadiens' playoff series loss to
the Carolina Hurricanes.

Bulis helped the Czech Republic win the bronze medal in the
Torino Olympics last February.

A second-round pick of the Washington Capitals in 1996, Bulis
played parts of four seasons with the Capitals before being
traded to the Canadiens in January 2001. He has 84 goals and
138 assists in 473 NHL games.
