Hurricanes acquire RW Walker from Predators

RALEIGH, North Carolina - The Stanley Cup champion
Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday acquired right wing Scott Walker
from the Nashville Predators for center Josef Vasicek.

In 33 games with the Predators last season, Walker scored five
goals and added 11 assists. He missed much of the season while
recovering from surgery to repair a sports hernia in November
and a wrist injury.

Entering his 12th NHL season, Walker has recorded 106 goals and
185 assists for 291 points in 607 career games with Vancouver
and Nashville.

"Scott has been a top leader and scorer for Nashville for the
entire history of their franchise," Carolina general manager Jim
Rutherford said. "He will fit in well with our team on and off
the ice."

Vasicek also missed most of the 2005-06 season, playing in only
23 regular-season games due to a knee injury and recording four
goals and five assists.
