Carmichael races to fifth straight victory

NEW BERLIN, N.Y. -- Ricky Carmichael raced to his fifth
straight Toyota AMA Motocross Championship victory and the sixth
win of his career at Unadilla Valley Sports Center, beating Kevin
Windham on Sunday.

"They changed the track and the changes they made were good and
it turned out in my favor," Carmichael said. "I actually fell in
the second moto and I'm not sure anyone saw me. I was able to get
back up and continue on and it didn't really affect the outcome."

Carmichael, the Suzuki rider from Tallahassee, Fla., extended
his lead over Yamaha's Chad Reed to 44 points in the season
standings.

Kawasaki's James Stewart missed the second race of the season
due to injury after a high-speed crash in morning practice sent him
to the ground. He was examined by track physicians and decided to
sit out the race because of stiffness and soreness.

Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto won the AMA Motocross Lites race.
