Detroit (55-26) at Pittsburgh (28-54) 1:35 pm EDT

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Detroit Tigers already have one of
baseball's best rookie starters in Justin Verlander and one of
the top rookie relievers in Joel Zumaya. It almost doesn't seem
fair, then, that Zach Miner has turned out to be as good as he
is.

Miner looks to win his fifth straight start as the Tigers hook
up with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the rubber game of a
three-game interleague series on Sunday afternoon.

Since losing his major league debut against Boston on June 4,
Miner (4-1, 2.59 ERA) has won each of his last four outings and
has not allowed more than three runs in any game. The
24-year-old righthander permitted three runs in 5 1/3 innings
Monday in a 10-4 win against Houston.

Miner will try and help Detroit get back on track after
Saturday's 9-2 setback. The Tigers had won 17 of 19 but were
shut down by rookie Tom Gorzelanny and three relievers.

Pittsburgh, which got three hits apiece from Jose Bautista and
Sean Casey, will try and post an improbable series victory
Sunday behind Ian Snell (7-5, 4.87).

The 25-year-old righthander took the loss Tuesday against the
Chicago White Sox, yielding three runs and 10 hits in five
innings of the 4-2 defeat. Snell, who has lost two straight
decisions following a five-game winning streak, will be facing
the Tigers for the first time in his career.
