Blue Jays try to complete sweep of Red Sox

TORONTO -- Vernon Wells and Troy Glaus have given
themselves a tough standard to live up to.

One night after combining for five home runs, Wells and Glaus
lead the Toronto Blue Jays, who look to complete a three-game
series sweep of the Boston Red Sox.

Wells recorded the first three-homer game of his career - his
13th multi-homer contest - and Glaus added a pair as Toronto won
for the sixth time in eight outings with Tuesday's 8-5 victory
over Boston.

The Blue Jays have won seven of 10 encounters with the Red Sox
this season and have moved within 1 1/2 games of Boston and the
New York Yankees in the American League East Division race.

Lefthander Ted Lilly (5-4, 4.00 ERA) tries to build upon his 5-3
career mark against Boston. He defeated the Red Sox on April
13 after giving up just one run and six hits in seven innings.

The Red Sox are expected to counter with David Pauley (NR), who
makes his major league debut after going 2-3 with a 2.39 ERA in
10 starts with Class AA Portland. He takes the place of David
Wells, who is sidelined with a sore knee.
