Four minor leaguers suspended 50 games

NEW YORK - Four minor league players have been
suspended 50 games apiece for violating baseball's minor league
drug prevention and treatment program.

Ramon Ramirez of the Cincinnati Reds' organization, Waner Mateo
of the New York Mets' organization and Ryan Rafferty of the
Kansas City Royals' organization were suspended for testing
postive for using a performance-enhancing substance. Another
member of the Reds' organization - Justin Mallet - was suspended
for testing positive for drugs.

The suspensions were announced Tuesday by the Office of the
Commissioner of Baseball.
