Soccer-Guadalajara win third game in a week in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, March 26 - Guadalajara, Mexico's
most popular club, completed their third win in a week under
new coach Jose Manuel de la Torre by coming from behind to beat
Monterrey 2-1 at the weekend.

De la Torre became the club's fourth coach since last
August when he replaced Dutchman Hans Westerhof, who was fired
by controversial club owner Jorge Vergara 10 days ago.

His side began with a 1-0 win over Cruz Azul in the Mexican
championship a week ago and followed that up by beating
defending champions Sao Paulo 2-1 in the Libertadores Cup on
Tuesday.

Monterrey went ahead in the 11th minute when Mexican
international midfielder Luis Perez scored from a free kick
which left goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez stranded.

But the Chivas hit back with two goals in eight minutes
during the second half, just after Sanchez had made a superb
stop to deny Reinaldo Navia a second for Monterrey.

Midfielder Sergio Santana headed the equaliser in the 61st
minute and Gonzalo Pineda fired home from a rebound to score
the winner.

FIRED HOME

Guadalajara climbed to third in Group Three of the Clausura
championship with 19 points from 12 games, two behind Cruz Azul
who beat Necaxa 3-1 helped by two goals from Argentine forward
Cesar Delgado.

Chiapas (27 points) stayed top of the group with an
impressive 3-1 win away to America at the Azteca stadium.

Although defender Felipe Ayala put through his own net in
the 13th minute to give America the lead, two goals in four
minutes from Jesus Gutierrez and Argentine Walter Jimenez put
the Jaguars 2-1 up at halftime.

Paraguay striker Salvador Cabanas added a third in the 72nd
minute when he fired home from Carlos Ochoa's pass.

Pachuca stayed top of Group Two despite a shock 1-0 home
defeat by Santos Laguna but their lead was cut to six points by
defending champions Toluca, who beat UNAM 2-1.

Meanwhile, Atlante's 2-0 win at UAG took them top of Group
One.
