Cricket-Ganguly hopeful of India comeback

KOLKATA, India, March 11 - Former India captain
Saurav Ganguly says he is confident of regaining his place in
the national squad.

Ganguly, 33, was dropped for the current series against
England after two modest efforts with the bat in two
appearances in the test series against Pakistan in January.

He was sacked as captain and one-day player in October due
to poor batting form and a row with coach Greg Chappell.

"I don't think these are hard times for me," he told
reporters on Friday.

"You get dropped, it happens, and then you get taken in
again. I'm trying to make a comeback just like some others who
got dropped after the Pakistan tour," he said.

Chief selector Kiran More seemed to signal an end to
Ganguly's international career when he said the selectors
wanted to groom youngsters with an eye on next year's World Cup
and beyond.

But Ganguly, who has scored 5221 runs in 88 tests, said he
would prove himself in domestic tournaments, denying some
reports that he planned to enter politics.

"I've more than 15,000 runs in international cricket," he
said. "I will keep on playing." ((Reporting by Bappa Majumdar;
