High Point 87, Radford 84

RADFORD, Va. (AP) -- Arizona Reid had 24 points and 12 rebounds
as High Point held on to beat Radford 87-84 in the first round of
the Big South Conference tournament Tuesday night.

High Point (16-11) led by 11 with 5:16 remaining, but Radford
went on a 14-3 run capped off by Andre Bynum's 3-pointer that tied
it at 81 with 55 seconds left. Issa Konare answered with a 3 of his
own, and Akeem Scott's free throw with 12 seconds left put High
Point up by four. Whit Holcomb-Faye hit a 3-pointer with 6 seconds
left that made it 85-84, but Mike Jefferson was fouled and made
both shots and Dan Ross' 3-pointer at the buzzer hit the glass and
bounced off.

Radford (16-13) jumped ahead by nine with 16:12 to go in the
first half, but High Point went on a 19-0 run over the next five
minutes that put the Panthers up by 10, at 26-16. Holcomb-Faye had
back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 12-2 Radford run that tied it at
28 with 8:25 left in the half.

Holcomb-Faye's 3-pointer with 42 seconds left put the
Highlanders up 42-39 at the half. Holcomb-Faye led Radford with 33
points, including six from beyond the arc.

Chris Oliver had 16 for Radford, Bynum had 14 and Reggie
McIntyre added 10.

Mike Jefferson had 19 for High Point, Scott added 12 and Konare
had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
