PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Larry Williams hit 3-of-5 three-pointers
Saturday night to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 67-54 Southwestern
Athletic Conference victory over Prairie View A&M.
The Golden Lions (9-13, 6-8 SWAC) used hot shooting hands in the
first half -- hitting 57 percent of their shots from the field,
compared with just 23 percent for Prairie View -- to get a 40-20
lead at the half.
Prairie View (4-20, 1-12) improved its shooting after
intermission, to 44 percent, and outscored UAPB, but not by nearly
enough to get back in the game.
Williams finished with 15 points for the Golden Lions. Jarvis
Gunter also scored 12 points for UAPB, and William Byrd added 11.
Phillip Scott led the Panthers' scoring with 11 points, while
Chris Gaines and Jeremy Wiley added 10 each.
