Mercer 74, Fla Atlantic 73

MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Montavious Waters hit a 9-footer from the
right baseline as the buzzer sounded Tuesday night to lift Mercer
to a 74-73 victory over Florida Atlantic.

Waters, who has averaged just 34 percent of his shots this
season, got off a shot with 13 seconds left and the Bears down by
one. Two teammates got rebounds and missed before he grabbed the
ball and scored.

Mercer (6-15, 5-10 Atlantic Sun Conference) stopped a three-game
losing streak.

The Owls (11-11, 10-5) led 38-33 at the half, and Mercer seemed
destined to lose another roller coaster game. A 67-64 Bears lead
became a 70-67 deficit with 2:08 left.

With 22 seconds left, Will Emerson scored, was fouled and hit
the free throw for a 72-to-70 lead. FAU's Rodney Webb hit a
3-pointer from the left corner, and the Owls were up by a point
with 13.6 seconds left. Mercer called timeout and the inbounds pass
went to Waters.

Andrew Brown and Emerson each had 17 points to lead Mercer.
Waters finished with 10.

Webb scored a game-high 22, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
