Soccer-Arveladze hat-trick helps Alkmaar to 5-0 win at RBC

AMSTERDAM, Feb 7 - Shota Arveladze grabbed a
second half hat-trick as AZ Alkmaar won 5-0 at bottom club RBC
Roosendaal in the Dutch first division on Tuesday.

Alkmaar move up to second place with 52 points from 23
games, two behind leaders PSV Eindhoven who travel Utrecht on
Wednesday, and one above Feyenoord who visit NEC Nijmegen.

Martijn Meerdink got Alkmaar off to a flying start when he
set up Barry van Galen for the opening goal after 11 minutes and
doubled the lead himself eight minutes before the interval.

Georgian Arveladze sealed the win 10 minutes into the second
half and added two more goals in the 64th and 83rd to lift his
total for the season to 20.

Fifth-placed Groningen stayed a point behind Nijmegen after
losing 1-0 at lowly Sparta Rotterdam to remain on 37 points.

Belgian Davy de Fauw settled the match with a long-distance
strike six minutes from time to move Sparta six points clear of
the bottom three.
