MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Wally Szczerbiak did not have to wait long to
come back to the Target Center.

Just four days after getting traded, Szczerbiak faces his former
team Monday when the Boston Celtics face the Minnesota
Timberwolves.

Szczerbiak, who spent the first 6 1/2 seasons of his career in
Minnesota, was sent to Boston on Thursday in a seven-player
deal. The Celtics also received underachieving center Michael
Olowokandi and center Dwayne Jones in the deal while sending
guards Ricky Davis, Marcus Banks, forward Justin Reed and center
Mark Blount to the Timberwolves.

After scoring 10 points in his Boston debut Friday against
Sacramento, Szczerbiak recorded 20 on 8-of-15 shooting Sunday in
an 83-79 setback to Milwaukee.

Paul Pierce added 18 and Al Jefferson collected 12 and 12
rebounds for the Celtics, who have alternated wins and losses in
their last five games.

Davis has had little trouble fitting in with the Timberwolves,
averaging 23 points in two games. He scored 20 on Saturday and
superstar Kevin Garnett contributed 23 and 10 rebounds but it
was not enough for Minnesota, which dropped a 102-88 decision to
San Antonio.

Blount added 18 points in 31 minutes off the bench for the
Timberwolves, who have lost four of five and six of their last
eight.

Minnesota will be trying to salvage a split of the season series
after Boston posted a 103-96 victory January 18. Pierce scored
14 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as the Celtics
rallied from a seven-point deficit.
