North Dakota 66, Augustana, S.D. 59

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Rich Glas became the winningest coach
in University of North Dakota men's basketball history Thursday
when his Sioux defeated Augustana College 66-59 in North Central
Conference play.

It was win number 333 for Glas -- one more than Dave Gunther
earned during his 17 seasons at UND that ended in 1988. Glas
replaced Gunther and got his record win in his 18th season.

"What's special is the great tradition in our program," Glas
said. "To be in the same fraternity as Dave Gunther -- and surpass
him -- is simply great."

Glas has a 63.9 percent winning percentage at UND, while Gunther
finished at 65.2 percent.

The win was a relief for the Sioux players, who lost in two
previous attempts at the landmark win.

"Coach is very unselfish," sophomore guard Josh Doyle said.
"He has never mentioned the record, which took the pressure off
us. It's great to be a part of it even if it's a small part."

Doyle led UND (11-9, 3-3 NCC) with 18 points, while making four
3-pointers in the second half. When the Vikings narrowed a 13 point
UND lead to five, Doyle made two free throws with 2:10 left for a
60-53 cushion.

Adam Jacobson added 16 points and Evan Lindahl had 11 for the
Sioux, who used a 14-0 run for a 33-23 halftime lead.

Mike Klepatz had 14 points to lead the Vikings (10-10, 2-4).
