ELON, N.C. (AP) -- Montell Watson scored 19 points, including the
basket that sent the game into overtime, to lead Elon to an 81-77
victory over Furman in a Southern Conference game Monday night.
Chris Chalko scored 15 points while LeVonn Jordan added 13 for
the Phoenix (10-9, 6-0 Southern Conference).
Moussa Diagne led Furman (11-7, 5-2) with 19 points. Robby
Bostain had 15; Eric Webb, 14; and George Brozos, 11.
Watson's 3-pointer with 33 seconds left in regulation tied the
score at 60-60 and sent the game into overtime.
Bostain put Furman up 62-60 on a jumper with 4:38 to go in
overtime. Elon responded with a 14-1 surge to build a 74-63 lead on
Chalko's two free throws.
The Paladins then went on a 12-4 run to pull with 78-75 on a
3-pointer by Brozos with 16 seconds left.
After a pair of free throws by Elon's Brian Waters, Bostain hit
another 3-pointer to bring Furman within 80-77 with seven seconds
left.
With four seconds remaining, Watson hit the second of two free
throw attempts to clinch the Phoenix victory.
