UTEP's Williams is back on team

EL PASO, Texas - UTEP's Jason Williams is back on the team following his suspension last week for punching a teammate and breaking his jaw.

Coach Doc Sadler reinstated him Monday, and the senior forward practiced with the team. The coach said Williams, who averages 15.4 points, will play Saturday against New Mexico State.

"I've got to make a decision based on what is best for our basketball program," Sadler said at a news conference. "I took into consideration what happened, the people involved, their teammates, the coaching staff and the fans. "

Sadler has said Williams hit Stefon Jackson during a "very competitive practice." Williams has apologized. Jackson had surgery and is out for at least six weeks.
