LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers hope to build off
a fantastic road trip when they host the Washington Wizards on
Friday in their first meeting since their offseason trade.

The Lakers return home after going 5-1 during the six-game
jaunt, including wins against Chicago, Dallas and a 94-79 rout
of Memphis on Wednesday.

Kobe Bryant collected 27 points and eight rebounds for Los
Angeles, which has won two straight and six of their last seven
games overall.

Lakers forward Kwame Brown, will be playing against team that
made him the first overall pick in the 2001 Draft. Brown and
Laron Profit came over from the Wizards in exchange for Caron
Butler and Chucky Atkins on August 2.

Washington snapped a three-game losing streak with a 94-74 win
over New Jersey on Tuesday, but had to do it without leading
scorer Gilbert Arenas.

Arenas, averaging 27.7 points and 6.2 assists per game, bruised
his back Saturday against Chicago. He finished with 42 points
in that game, but struggled the next night at Miami, shooting
5-for-24 from the field.

Jarvis Hayes led the Wizards with 19 points and Butler collected
12 and 10 rebounds against the Nets. Atkins started in place
of Arenas and collected 12 points and nine assists in 45
minutes.

Washington won both meetings against Los Angeles last season but
has won just six of its last 21 against the Lakers.
