Miyazato fails to make cut at Okinawa Open

OKINAWA, Japan -- Ai Miyazato shot a 7-over 78 Friday and
failed to make the cut against the men at the Japan Okinawa Open.

Miyazato, just back from earning a U.S. LPGA Tour card for next
year, opened with a triple bogey on the par-4 first hole and had
six bogeys, a double bogey and four birdies on her way to a 36-hole
total of 16-over 158 at the par-71 Naha Golf Club.

Miyazato won six times on the Japan LPGA this year and is the
first Japanese woman to play in a men's domestic professional
event.

There was some good news for the Miyazato family. Ai's older
brother, Kiyoshi, shot a 4-under 67 and is tied for the lead with
Yasuharu Imano (64) and Kaname Yokoo (70) at 7-under 135.

First round co-leader Dinesh Chand of Fiji shot a 72 to fall
into a tie for seventh at 5 under.
