MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Newly named Kansas State coach Ron Prince
has hired five members of his football staff, including a former
University of North Dakota defensive coordinator.
The appointments announced Thursday include four assistant
coaches and a director of football operations.
Mo Latimore, who also served under revered Prince predecessor
Bill Snyder, will remain on the coaching staff. The longtime coach
and Kansas State alumnus will coach the Wildcats' defensive line.
Prince has also tapped Tim McCarty, head coach at East Central
University in Ada, Okla., as assistant head coach and offensive
line coach; Tim Tibesar, defensive coordinator at UND, to oversee
special teams units; and Pat Washington, a longtime wide receiver
coach at the University of Tennessee, who will fill the same
position at Kansas State.
Abby Boustead assumes the football operations post and comes to
Manhattan from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The 36-year-old Prince was named Sunday to follow Snyder's
successful 17-year run at Kansas State after spending the last five
years at Virginia, including the last three years as offensive
coordinator.
Also Thursday, Prince announced he declined an invitation from
the University of Virginia to coach the team in the Music City Bowl
on Dec. 30.
Tibesar, a linebacker for UND in the mid-1990s, joined that
team's coaching staff in 2001. He spent his first three seasons as
inside linebackers coach. The past two, he coordinated the UND
defense. He resigned earlier this week to take the Kansas State
job.
