TORONTO (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Kings will attempt to avoid
becoming another notch in goaltender Ed Belfour's stick.

Belfour tries for the third time to become the second-winningest
netminder in league history Tuesday when the Toronto Maple
Leafs host the Kings.

The 40-year-old Belfour is tied with Hall of Famer Terry
Sawchuck for second place on the all-time list with 447 wins,
trailing only former Canadiens and Avalanche goaltender Patrick
Roy, who has 551.

However, Belfour, who is even with New Jersey's Martin Brodeur
for most shutouts by an active netminder (75), came up short in
back-to-back losses to Tampa Bay and San Jose, allowing seven
goals in those contests.

Darcy Tucker, Eric Lindros and Matt Stajan scored first-period
tallies for Toronto, which failed to hold a two-goal lead in
Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Sharks.

The Kings have been outscored, 16-7, during a four-game losing
streak and have just two goals in their last 39 power-play
opportunities.

Eric Belanger and Jeff Cowan scored for Los Angeles in
Saturday's 3-2 defeat to the Montreal Canadiens. Jeremy Roenick
missed his second straight game with pneumonia.

The all-time series between the teams is tied, 56-56-21. This
will be their only encounter of the season.
