Rutgers 75, Saint Mary's 69

MORAGA, Calif. -- Quincy Douby had a career-high 36 points,
including consecutive 3-pointers to break a fourth-quarter tie, to
lead Rutgers to a 75-69 non-conference victory over host Saint
Mary's on Saturday night.

Douby, a 6-foot-3 junior guard who also had a career-high 11
rebounds, iced the game with four free throws in the final 7.8
seconds after Saint Mary's cut Rutgers' lead to 71-69 on Daniel
Kickert's 3-pointer.

After Kickert's free throw tied the game at 58 for Saint Mary's
(1-2) with 5:56 to play, Douby hit a 3-pointer from the corner.
Kickert missed a 3-point attempt, and Douby hit another 3-pointer
to put the Scarlet Knights ahead 64-58.

On Saint Mary's next possession, Douby slapped the ball away
from Rafael DaSilva, and Marquis Webb scored in transition. Douby
completed Rutgers' nine-point run with a free throw.

Rutgers (5-1), which hit 58.3 percent in the first half on
14-of-24 shooting, fell behind early in the second half while
hitting only one of its first 10 shots. But the Scarlet Knights
finished the night hitting eight of its final 12 shots, winding up
with 50 percent shooting (26-of-52).

Marquis Webb and freshman Anthony Farmer both had 16 points as
Rutgers' three guards combined for 68 of the team's points.
Farmer's 16 was also a career-high.

Kickert had 29 points and eight rebounds for Saint Mary's, which
out-rebounded Rutgers 35-31. Todd Golden had a career-high 15
points, including four 3-pointers.

Saint Mary's hit 10-of-21 3-points attempts.
