Sharper, oldest of Seahawks young linebackers, out indefinitely

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jamie Sharper
is out indefinitely with a swollen and infected right knee.

Sharper, who has missed only one of 136 games in his nine-year
career, had a swollen knee when he arrived at team headquarters on
Tuesday. Doctors drained the knee, but coach Mike Holmgren said
they do not yet know what medications to use to treat the
infection.

"Until it quiets down, we won't have him," Holmgren said of
the offseason free-agent acquisition from Houston.

The NFC West-leading Seahawks (6-2) will moved D.D. Lewis from
the left outside linebacker spot to Sharper's right side for
Sunday's division showdown against second-place St. Louis (4-4).
Lewis is back after missing last Sunday's win at Arizona with a
sore right knee.

Rookie third-round draft choice Leroy Hill will make his second
career start at left outside linebacker.
