Cricket-Trescothick hungry for runs after century in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI, Oct 31 - England opener Marcus
Trescothick warned Pakistani bowlers on Monday he was hungry for
runs after scoring a century on the opening day of the tour.

The left-handed opener got an unbeaten 124 against the
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Patron's XI.

"I am hungry to do well in the series, I want to spend as
much time as possible out in the middle. My only aim today was
to bat as long as I could," he said.

Trescothick rescued his team from 61 for six at lunch to 256
for nine at the close in the first of two practice matches
England play before the first test in Multan.

Trescothick said he was impressed by the quality of bowling
he faced on Monday.

"I was a bit surprised because they really bowled well out
there. The left armer (Najaf Shah) and Yasir Arafat bowled with
lot of discipline and made the ball dart around," he said.

The two bowlers shared seven of the wickets to fall in the
England innings.

The England vice-captain put down the early batting collapse
to pressure and movement off the pitch.

"It has eased out now and the wicket is good for batting. I
think we just came under pressure as the wickets fell but it is
a good start for me."

Trescothick scored 431 runs in 10 innings in England's Ashes
series win over Australia.
