Soccer-Injured Beckham out of Real squad to face Betis

MADRID, Oct 28 - Real Madrid midfielder David
Beckham has failed to recover from a calf injury and has been
left out of the squad to face Real Betis in the Primera Liga on
Saturday.

England captain Beckham was substituted in the second half
of Real's 3-1 defeat by Deportivo Coruna on Wednesday, and did
not train with the rest of the squad on Thursday or Friday.

He remains a doubt for Tuesday's Champions League clash with
Rosenborg in Norway.

Beckham joins Brazilians Ronaldo and Julio Baptista, Denmark
midfielder Thomas Gravesen and France playmaker Zinedine Zidane
on Real's list of injured players for Saturday.

"Beckham started in La Coruna carrying a slight injury and
in the second half it put him off his game. He wasn't playing
well so I took him off," Luxemburgo told a news conference on
Friday.

"We know we will have good runs and bad runs with injuries
but we have to continue working hard regardless.

"We may have lost quality in midfield but maybe we will be
more competitive."

After missing Real's last three games, however, right back
Michel Salgado has been declared fit for the trip to Seville.

Real have lost their last two league encounters and have
slipped down to sixth in the table, three points adrift of
leaders Osasuna.
