Dual-threat QBs give offenses options

Dual-threat quarterbacks have become all the rage in college football -- and with good reason.

For starters, with so many breakdowns occurring at the collegiate level -- both offensively and defensively -- mobile quarterbacks give their team a better chance to overcome its own mistakes and exploit its opponents' mistakes than that of a pocket passer.

Secondly, mid-level programs that can't surround their quarterback with elite talent, such as USC has been able to do for Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart the last few years, are able to bridge the gap by getting more versatile production (run and pass) out of their quarterback position.
