Nabokov sidelined with upper-body injury

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The San Jose Sharks put goaltender Evgeni Nabokov on injured reserve Thursday and recalled goalie Dimitri Patzold from their top affiliate in Cleveland.

The Sharks' top two goalies are injured, leaving two minor-leaguers to suit up in Los Angeles on Friday night for the finale of a six-game road trip.

Nabokov sustained an upper-body injury in a collision with teammate Christian Ehrhoff in Columbus on Oct. 21. Vesa Toskala, Nabokov's longtime backup, injured his groin during the Sharks' 5-4 victory over Dallas on Wednesday night.

Patzold, who is from Nabokov's hometown in Kazakhstan, will be making his NHL debut.

Nabokov is eligible to return from injured reserve Saturday when the Sharks host the Flames.
