New pro baseball league adds another five teams

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The new professional baseball league
that the Sioux Falls Canaries are a part of has added another five
teams.

The Canaries are joining the American Association of Independent
Professional Baseball. Other founding members from the region are
the Sioux City (Iowa) Explorers, the St. Paul (Minn.) Saints and
the Lincoln (Neb.) Saltdogs.

The league has added three Texas teams -- the Fort Worth Cats, El
Paso Diablos and Coastal Bend Aviators from Robstown, Texas. Also
joining are the Shreveport (La.) Sports and Pensacola (Fla.)
Pelicans.

The league said it plans to announce a 10th team soon.
