Sasha Cohen withdraws from Skate America

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Skate America lost its biggest
headliner Tuesday when Sasha Cohen withdrew from the season's first
Grand Prix of Figure Skating event.

Cohen injured a muscle on her left side -- the oblique muscle --
during practice last Thursday in California and was told to quit
doing triple jumps for at least a week.

Cohen is scheduled to compete next in the Trophee Eric Bompard
in Paris on Nov. 17-20. Coach John Nicks believes she'll be ready
as long as she returns to full on-ice training next week.

"I told her if she wasn't able to do a run-through yesterday
she probably wouldn't be able to compete this weekend," he said.

Cohen will be replaced at Skate America by Alissa Czisny, who
placed fourth at last year's event, her first major international.
Czisny was seventh at nationals in January before taking sixth at
the 2005 World Junior Championships.
