HAVRE -- Don Saisbury and Zach Wermers each scored two
touchdowns Saturday as Montana State-Northern defeated Eastern
Oregon 35-14.
Kyle Samson passed for 191 yards and a touchdown to Saisbury for
the Lights (4-3) in their win over the Mountaineers (3-2), ranked
17th in the NAIA.
Samson also rushed for 166 yards yards as MSU-Northern outgained
Eastern Oregon 494-406 in the nonconference game.
"Kyle had a huge game, and so did Donny," said Northern head
coach Mark Samson. "Plus our defense came up big. Even though we
gave up a lot of yards, we held them twice inside the 10-yard line
and kept their passing game in check for the most part. ... It was
really a good all-around game for us."
This is the second time this season Northern has beaten a ranked
NAIA team. The Lights beat then-sixth-ranked Dickinson State 32-17
in their season-opener.
